The term 'Helicopter Parents' is used for those parents who pay utmost attention to their children and their problems, mostly related to their educational institutions.
This parenting is named as Helicopter Parenting because it closely hovers on your child and helps to build better relationship with your child.
Helicopter parenting takes place when parents are involved with college academics and job application process. Involved parents want to have control over activities of their child and not only they have control over activities but also help their child to achieve their best. Helicopter parents want to be involved in the discussion with their child regarding job opportunities, salary, benefits and perks.
Sometimes helicopter parenting goes in the way that, parents set the boundaries and limitations for their children who are in their twenties and expect their children to live by such limitations. In other words, we can say that helicopter parenting is nothing but parenting in which parents spend their lives controlling their children's lives.
Sometimes children like their parents help but sometimes they don't, but in helicopter parenting parents sets boundaries for their children who have to follow those boundaries. In some cases, there may be negative impact when children don't like any involvement of their parents in their academics, and in such case children may go on wrong track. Therefore proper balance in this type of parenting is required and is necessary for their proper growth.
No matter how strict or how loving parent you are, a bit of helicopter parenting is always advisable which ensures a better future of your kid.
